Streaming server and its cost

I am adding a facility to download and play movies and songs from my website.
For this do i have to purchase A streaming server or normal server will work.
what is the cost of streaming server.do any body has script for this unlimited download with resume option in case of dissconnection

I run a small webhosting business, and I have a couple customers of mine that do streaming content. What it is.. is just a normal UNIX or Windows server, Generally i recommend a UNIX box for this though. Its software driven, so its not lagging down the bandwidth. There are a lot of different software packages for this that are available. I generally just pull them out of the /ports directory, but i'm sure if you checked out http://www.freshmeat.net you could find something there.

Costs for running a Streaming server can vary, some hosts will charge you bandwidth charges for Transfer rate. however if you decide to go with a "full virtual server" of your own, its generally unlimited Transfer per month. But like i said, the prices will vary from host to host.
