WYSIWYG Editor for forms

Can anyone recommend a good WYSIWYG editor that I can use on my website? I need one that will allow a user to browse his computer for a image and upload it. It should also make a thumbnail of the image to display on the front side and be linked to the larger image.

Is this asking too much? I've tried Tinymce but you can't upload a picture using theirs. I can't even get Fckeditor to display on my website.

I can get Openwysiwyg to work, and I can upload a picture but it's not quite right. You have to manually link to the larger image and the thumbnail it generates is miserably tiny - about the size of a desktop icon.

I think this program has good potential but it needs a little tweaking to really make it shine. Unfortunately, that's beyond my skill level at the moment. It has way fewer files than the Tiny and Fckeditor and I like that. And I think I might be able to eliminate some of the features on the toolbar.

This can be achieved by an input file element:

It should also make a thumbnail of the image to display on the front side and be linked to the larger image.

This will require some server-side code for the actual uploading. You may not get this exact functionality, but if you can get something close (check the demos), you can adapt it to display in this manner. Alternatively, add the whole upload part yourself.

I would actually prefer to just use a standard textarea and have some way for the user to include an image in the content. I made a photo gallery in php, but this is different.

Lets say I was typing this message and I wanted to include a image right HERE, and have it show up right there when viewed from the front side. A WYSIWYG editor can do that (well is suppose to be able to do that) but I can't do that with just a standard form textarea.

Yes I can include a image upload file in the form, but I wouldn't know how to display the image on the front side where the author meant for it to be displayed within his article.

I would rather do this with php instead of javascript also.

TinyMCE is a widely used WYSIWYG editor.

Edit2: I'm sure there are plugins for TinyMCE that allow for file uploads (like wordpress's editor).

Edit3: It does. Check out the toolbar (top one), there is an icon of an image to upload images.

I tried Tinymce, but it gave me problems. It may be something to do with FireFox.

I can say that I've used FckEditor in an intranet application. It worked fine on Firefox and IE and it does exactly what you require. What problems were you having setting it up?
