    Google Toolbar problem

Just a warning to the group. The Google Toolbar causes Firebug to
issue lots of "Too much recursion" errors in the toolbar.js and
eventual causes my Firefox browser to stop responding when using the
javascript window.open method. Removing the Google Toolbar fixes the
    problem.

As far as I am concerned this is *news*. You should realize that not
every post is intended for or about you 'PointedEars', there are lots
of other members of the group and maybe my experience could help
    someone.

by the way, I am using the latest version of Firefox for Ubuntu 7.10
and I would rather live without the Google Toolbar than upgrade/
    downgrade Firefox.

PointedEars, having looked at your profile I see that you are rude to
everyone and not just to me. Why are you doing this? Your posts do not
help anyone, they merely point out that everyone except yourself is
      stupid.

Please work out your anger somewhere else, you are making it very
      unpleasant to read this forum.

      Steve.

I see, so if PointedEars cannot reproduce the problem it doesn't
        exist?

If you cannot provide instructions that allow any reasonably competent
reader, given access to the specified software/versions, to reliably
reproduce the issue at will then it does not exist. To date no such
instructions have appeared, while if the situation was a clear as you
originally suggested those instructions should be easy to produce.

          Point taken.

However in my defence I only wanted to warn others who might have the
same problem so that they didn't spend hours trying to find a problem
with their code that wasn't there. I didn't post to ask anyone to find
out what the problem was and I have better things to do with my time
than to fault-find a Google script.

In future I will keep my discoveries and experiences to myself rather
than risk the childish rantings of PointedEars. It's a shame though.

          Steve.

            It seems PointedEars is right,
since you are not prepared to show us your selfprofessed problem.

Here is the link where I initially reported a problem, I didn't know
then that the Google Toolbar was responsible.

              My browser is Firefox 2.0.0.12 "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-
              US; rv:1.8.1.12) Gecko/20080207 Ubuntu/7.10 (gutsy) Firefox/2.0.0.12"
              My OS is Ubuntu/7.10 (gutsy)
The errors occurred in Firebug v1.05.
I don't know what version of the Google Toolbar I used because I have
removed it but I got it from this site http://www.google.com/tools/firefox/...r/FT3/intl/en/
              "discoverie s and experiences"?
I simply mean things I find out during my steep learning curve getting
to grips with Javascript. Is it so wrong to want to share this and
              help others?

                O.K. Steve,

I myself would not touch the toolbar, I like my personal
favelets/bookmarklets too much, to need it.

This NG however is about javascript programming primarily for use BY OUR
USERS in their browsers, so we want to know possible problems of our code
in other browsers too. However we would need to know which browsers.
Your adding that it is about Linux/Ubuntu Firefox+firebug is essential to
our coping, [even] as it narrows it down to a relative small minority of
                our users.

Certainly, a relative small minority of our users are users too.

That's why it was a good thing you added mentioning your platform,
