    controlling pop-up placement

As someone who has a web site, there is this popup (not my own) that comes
up that I can't make go away when others view the page. Is there anyway,
at least, to make sure that the parent window supersedes and is the top
lawyer vs. this smaller pop-up using javascript?

i'm a js novice, but i think what you're looking for is a pop-under script.

This is sort of what I am thinking about but the key difference is that I am
not creating a popup-- a popup has been placed on my site somehow. In
other words, I am not the creator of the popup I want to control. Is there
anyway of programmaticall y either removing it or pushing it behind my parent
      page?

        Two possibilities here:

-There is a ostile program runing in the background on your machine that
is generating the popup in response to certain keywords on teh page. The
solution is to use AdAware or something similar on them.

-You are using a free web space provider which includes popup adverts as
part of the terms of service. The solution is to not be so cheap.

        Is it one of these?
