Set the onunload event handler to return false.

Are you truly as stupid as you act?

P.S. I *can* stop onload when the page is reloaded. Perhaps if you knew
as much javascript as you portray yourself as knowing then you would
know how to accomplish it as well.

P.S.S. The idea is not to stop the onload, but to use the onload in a
way that the OP has not even thought about.

That's the "have you stopped beating your wife" fallacy, right?

That was not the question. It was to stop unUnload when the user
reloads the page. It can't be done.

What can be done is to not assign onunload at all. Relying on it in
any way is unsafe, since you can't guarantee that it is run at all.

It seems that a significant proportion of the regulars here consider you
              to be both arrogant and stupid (albeit not without technical knowledge;
              but others have that too).

If you cannot deal with those two personal problems, or at least conceal
them, the best remedy would be for you not to post here.

As a more detailed comment on what you wrote above :

It seems that you do not understand that this is a public discussion
medium. Responses, even where specifically aimed at helping an original
questioner, are for all to read and comment on. It is a great merit of
News that in it, unlike in the Web, incorrect information is extremely
likely to be pointed out, where those who have read it can see the
correction, within a day or two.

The correction of pig-headed responses benefits their readers; and,
              occasionally, their authors.
