noobe problem: Help

Can someone tell me why these two scripts don't work when
in the same html file. One is a common button rollover and the other shows
images in a fade transition.
I verified both scripts do work perfectly when in separate html files.

Also, I made a simplified web page w/ these two scripts......

the button is a rollover...it should turn red when rolled over w/ cursor.
only the image fade works as it is now. I know the fade script is the
culprit.
I really like it and want to use it in my web pages.



any help would be appreciated.
