    losing jscript functions

I continue to lose Javascript functionality in any browser I use under
WinXPPro...(IE6 , Moz 1.4, NS 7.1...)it is now at the point where I'm
unable to access my school sites which use jscript and has reached a
critical mass (I'm gonna explode soon!)

The symptoms are usually the same - when I browse to a page via jscript
by clicking on a jscript link, it displays a blank page with no attempt
to load content and displays the 'done' tag at the bottom of the page.

Not sure, but it appears that the more I download security patches from
MS, the less functionality I have with my browsers...hmmm

I've reloaded the current version of JScript as well as disabled my AV
and firewall pgms to no avail. This is obviously a system hook but
nothing in control panel or the help file has pointed me to an answer.

    Help please??

    Strange.

So the school sites are b0rken like any other site that requires
client-side JavaScript to provide basic functionality.

    Do your whining elsewhere, thanks.

JScript is not JavaScript but M$'s implementation of ECMAScript.

Maybe you are in Offline Mode (check the File menu of IE and Mozilla/5.0,
    including Netscape 7.1.)

Mozilla's JavaScript engine does not care about security patches for Windows
or IE. The problem lies elsewhere, perhaps you have installed a desktop
"firewall" that has b0rken your TCP/IP stack and/or blocking popup windows.

Why don't you just deinstall the "firewall"? It has no purpose that your
OS, when configured correctly, cannot do for itself.

Reinstall the system if my followup and followups in a newsgroup dealing
    with Windoze do not help.
