I bet a ton of virus/trojan/password_steale r writers would love to be able to
    do that.

The answer is no, not in any type of default security settings.

Not by default, but there is an application / script which will allow
you to do this. I ran across it a long time ago at
http://www.virtualplastic.net/ , but can't remember what it was called.
Have a look around there & I'm sure you'll run across it sooner or later.

An answer to the common newbie questions on whether a Web author can 'force' a browser to do things.
