doing away with annoying alerts

i have a web page with alot of checking on user input (if value is
numeric,empty.. .)and i used to have an alert after each field was
changed,which was of course quite annoying.So instead i now have a
message area(div) where i display all the messages.The problem is if
the user is not looking they won't know that there is a new message.Is
there a way to emmit a beep with javascript??i'm trying to avoid
submitting sound files but if that's my only choice.....

using java is not an option for me

is it possible to beep using javascript??exp lorer beeps every time
there is an alert,is it possible to use that sound somehow??
