Microsoft Messenger Online Status Indicator

Hi all,
I want to have a "I'm online using Microsoft Messenger" icon on a webpage,
just like ICQ offers, but alas the only site I can find offering a "how to"
isn't there anymore:(
Has anyone got an idea on how to do this? would it even be done using
javascript??
