How do i get to scan all the files in a folder using javascript code

Hi,
I have to save a .xls file but i need to scan all the files in the particular folder before saving the file and prompt the user to replace the file if it already exists in the particular folder.
Can anybody please help me with this.

Using Standard JavaScript Code File Operations is not possible.
