    IE and slow rollover issue

    Hi all,

I've done some research on this issue and am looking to you for
further information on why IE still does a server look-up of a
rollover image, even if the image has been preloaded and/or looked-up.

I've tended to think that it is just a bug with IE but then i found a
site that has rollovers that do not get looked up with IE. I thought
that maybe they are using some special js script that fixed it. But
no, it uses the same canned js rollover scripts provided by Macromedia
Fireworks/Dreamweaver. This really has me stumped now...

For example here is a site i'm working on right now that has rollovers
that access the server everytime you hover over the side navigation
    buttons...

Now here's a site that uses the exact same scripts as the above site,
but in my IE 6 browser, the side nav buttons do not access the server
    on the rollover...

Is this then a HTTP header issue? If so, what exact headers cause one
to work correctly and not the other? Any insight into this mystery
    would be greatly appreciated...

FWIW, i personally use the new Firefox and love it! Rollovers work
like they should in this browser. Just need to get a handel on the IE
stuff since most people use it.

    Thanks...

Rollovers work correctly in both, they just have different caching
    defaults.

Please look carefully at section 2.3 and RFC 1855.

It is posted bi-partly to the newsgroup thrice weekly.

It is only prudent to read a newsgroup before writing to it; for a
start, one can learn about proper response order.

The newsgroup FAQ can be found elsewhere ...
