Collapsible tables

I'm looking to create collapsible tables, similar to the outlines available
in Microsoft Excel and Open Office spreadsheet. I'd prefer something cross
platform. Is something like this available online? I've been searching for
months, but haven't found anything remotely close.

Unless you really have tabular data (*several* columns), you should
use unordered lists. Useful example:
