What has this got to do with javascript? Its Off-Topic...
However... You're asking the golden question for most commercially based
websites - There are various avenues that *might* work, but if folk are
not interested in buying whatever you're selling, then all the traffic
in the world won't help you... other than raise your ISP bill...
A few hints and tips would be to sell some of your products using some
of the online auctioneer websites like eBay and Amazon - They allow you
to have a photo of whatever you're selling - I would suggest that you
photograph one or two items of whatever you are selling and have in the
picture something like "More products like this for sale at
www.mywebsite.c om"
You could also consider Google adWords...
If you are selling to a niche market, then try looking for publications
that might offer you free advertisements. .. Don't laugh - they do exist
- I worked for a publication company in Canada for six months and they
gave the first advert away free, with no strings attached, for every new
product you were selling (their publications related to construction and
oil/gas predominently). .. the free advert permitted you one colour photo
too...
Avoid junk email at all costs... but... you could consider a signature
on your email that promotes your website and... perhaps offer a discount
to every 'friend' of a buyer (thus a buyer makes a referal to their
friends about a product they bought from you gives them a discount).
Whatever you do, make sure your website is designed well, user friendly
to navigate and safe (ie secure for payments). Also... (which you
should have already done by now) make sure you know who your customer is
- avoid paying anything to anyone who guarantee's you millions of hits
as chances are they are going to direct traffic to you using underhanded
methods that might get referals from websites that have no relationships
to your products and therefore more likely to bring hits from people who
would never be interested in buying your products...
I hope that helps... however next time I suggest you find an alternative
group for a question like this - Or, if you have to, prefix the subject
line of your post with OT (meaning Off Topic)...
I hope something above helps you,
Regards
