    Hi there,

    I am working on a chat, based on
    <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="10">
    is it possible to send a "beep" somehow when we detect any changes?

      detect a change in what? And, what changes are you detecting?
      The answer is - not reliably. I have sound disabled in my browser. Tired
      of websites playing sounds that interfere with my preferred music listening.


      Sidenote: beware that meta refresh can be explicitly disabled in IE6.0
