Open Source License for my project

Hi, I want to develop a project with friends for college course curriculum on Windows platform, the small description goes as:

This project is a web- based JAVA application that will deal with statistical and economical details of BPL (Below Poverty Line) families, map the inflow of Government grants, infrastructure, basic amenities, overall growth, etc, and display them.

I want to make it open source. For this month, it will comprise only us, and later on others can also join. I am using Sourceforge. So which open source license should I use?

    Please help, it's urgent.

    Regards,

It's your project, and thus your decision.

You might ask your lawyer for guidance.

Otherwise, take a few minutes, read the licenses you're interested in using, heard about, or whatever, and pick the one that suits your needs.

If you have questions about the meanings of things, then ask those questions.
