how to read and write the japanese language in java

I am tried to read the excel file which is having the Japanese contents...the console window returns the following output:

???
???
???????????1160 23
???????????1160 23
Chinese

(i think the question marks are the Japanese words).
Please guide me how to read the Japanese files
