    hello everyone.
i got really sick of windows vista. so i decided to by a mac os X 1.5.5
when i started working in it the java version "1.5.0_16" i have been trying for the last day to download jdk 1.6 but i don't know how to do that in mac. it is so easy in windows but not that simple to find it for mac.

if someone can please point me to the right direction i would be grateful.

    kind regards

Apple distributes Java for the Macs themselves; if they don't have it it doesn't exist (yet).

    kind regards,

I guess it's a QA issue: they want to make sure that Java runs properly on their free BSD OS. Maybe that's the deal they made with Sun (just a guess)

        kind regards,

        Jos

It is so they can tightly integrate the Java GUI with MacOS. i.e. so the look and feel and other features all work the same was as native OS interfaces.

Apple is about 2 years behind on Java updates. Ironically Apple has not released any Java updates since Steve Jobs claimed that the Mac was going to be come the preferred Java development platform. With almost all of Apple's focus being on the iPhone I do not expect to see the long over due Java updates anytime soon.
