Why don't you study the trails in Sun's own Tutorials? They're great and you
won't get swamped with ads etc.

    kind regards,

    Jos

What was wrong with the link I gave you? Studying those tutorials is one of
the best training courses you can get.

        kind regards,

        Jos

You didn't forget what I wrote; you read if from your screen. Those tutorials are
available online; you don't have to read them from a book.

            kind regards,

            Jos

I just want to try and understand fully what is the problem. Is it that you're from Chennai, India and don't speak fluent English and that's why you wanted someone from Chennai who might speak Tamil or something to help you? If that's the case I believe there are ways of translating many websites... I would look into this for you if that is indeed your problem.

On the other hand, if your problem is simply that you prefer not to do tutorials and would rather be trained from someone that is a different issue. Just so you know though, programming, like most other things, is learned best through experience. A person "training" you would give you similar assignments and simply offer you help as you went through them.

If you need help with your code as you go through the tutorials then that is something with which we could help you.

So can I ask what is the issue at hand so you may get the help you need?

You wont forget if you read while on the compiler. Don't read programming tutorials like you would a lieterature novel or play. Spend lots of time on the compiler and make it a point to understand all the error messages you get on the compiler.

Tutorials and books just aren't the same thing...

Why are you not listening to what Jos has to say?

Look, quite honestly, in my experience the FASTEST way of learning a programming language is to need to be on the expert level enough while being forced to apply it constantly for a real-time project/work environement.

Even while doing that guess what anyone and everyone does... tutorials. Until you at least try them out, try going through a good number of them please, don't bash our suggestions. Especially since most of us were forced to learn "core java" in a short span of time (I was anyway, guess I shouldn't talk for other people).

                    Thank you and good luck,

                    -blazed

I was just compelled to respond to this thread.

Learning a programming language using tutorials get you only to be syntactially correct. However, to understand a computer language both semantically and philosophically , like a real programmer, we need expert experience and guidance. And, unfortunately, we have a severe paucity in such teachers and willing students.

learning java in small period of time is possible.... specially if you have knowledge already in C language...

Unfortunately, when you do that, you will not enjoy programming in java... and probably you will miss some tricks while learning on it....

Your creativity on code design, system architecture, etc may not improve...
                        Specially the coding behavior....

And most of all, you will probably get stucked of the errors later....

Those sites that guarantee like "Learning java in 48 hours", is true in basics... And they only test it on high memory learners...

I learned java from myself... before taking Fundamentals in java subject.... No need an instructor at all.... they were only to rate the student's performance....

Just download the Core API.... have at least 2 ebooks on java....
Have some experiments on the code examples....

As you are experimenting those codes, you are also learning from it.... the more experiments you've come-up in a short period of time, the faster you are learning too....

( write it, predict, code it, compile and realize ).....

                        correct me if im wrong,
