    a typical Q. here ......

    i made a request database server to run a procedure .... through JDBC

    while the the procedure runs on database server then i stop the application server....

    now tell me what happens .. i mean whether the procedure stops running or not???

    plz explain me ... in detailsssssss

    any help is most welcome .... thanxxx in advance

    Depends, are you returning a ResultSet, or just updating the db?

      i m not clear with ur answer .....

      i think u didn't get my point ......

      when the appliation server is stopped then the all connection related resources closed ... i mean all the database sessions made by application

      so how can database server can refer a died session

      now i think u got my point ... so plz help

        A resultSet will keep the connection open and pooint to the record you are working with, while an update query will jsut update, then close. As far as i know, if the RS gets cut, you can't restore the session.
