I created a sub-branch through SmartCVS and then tried to access it through Eclipse in order to do a build but the same is not visible. Any reason why is that so.

You have not given too much information. Did you update on the eclipse first before trying to acces the sub-branch?When you do a syncronize, do any conflicts appear?
