    any java based open source alternative to Rational Rose CASE tools?

    I am looking for an open source CASE tools that is used an althernative
    to Rational Rose, preferably a Java based tools.

      Try Poseidon for UML. It's written in Java. Very nice. They have a
      'community edition' for free. http://www.gentleware.com/
