Unable to run the website in IIS server

hi,
Im new to IIS ,
Im trying to deploy the ASP.NET website
I copying the default.asp into the C:\Inetpub\wwwr oot
typing localhost\defau lt.asp in the browser it is asking for username and password
But i have not given any username and password
even typing the localhost it is still asking for password
Is there any configuration issue.

This is usually caused by directory security settings. By default these are set to the same as your default site.HTH.
