    IE7 start up page problem

    hi guys,
i am struck in a bit of problem. whenever i open my IE, it takes ages to open as it always tries to open "http://uk.msn.com/?ocid=iehp". what should i do that a blank page open initially.

i know everyone will be thinking about ( tools--> internet optons) and change home page option but it doesnot work, its already blank in there.

please help, its driving me nuts.

    thanks

I have no idea, Jay. Try clicking this 'use blank' button, and then click 'apply'.

I see now that there is a registry for IE's homepage that you can edit.

          Code:
          Run > Regedit > HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Internet Explorer > Main
From there, look for the entry 'Start Page'. Right click > modify. Enter whatever value you want in there.

I think you misunderstood. I mean a registry on your computer, a little bit of information IE uses when it starts.

Using the above information, you can locate it.

yes markus, i did try that IE registry. actually under software their wasnt any folder called Internet Explorer. but their is one called MIcrosoft, under this their is Internet Explorer--> main ( their are 2 folder named default Feeds and Feature control) and none of these have anything any entry related to msn website.

it is strange, this has never happened in my life that i m changing default page and it is not applying that changes to it.

                Cheers

You're correct, it's under Microsoft > Internet Explorer. However, after that, you aren't looking in folders. When you click on Internet Explorer (in regedit), on the left it will list all of the registry entries. Have a look for it (the home page) in there.

markus, when i click on internet Explorer . only entries that comes on right window are default, download directory. their isn't anything named "the homepage".

but when i click on "main". i get one registry named "Start Page" and its value is about:blank. so i think i shouls work fine but it doesnt.

Well, now I am clean out of ideas.

Other than deleting IE (which you should do, anyway), reinstalling, I cannot offer any further assistance. Maybe someone who knows more will stumble across this thread.

                      Mark.
