Google wouldn't be a bad place to start, perhaps your textbook has something on the subject? I'm pretty sure my OS textbook does.

You have access to google or yahoo or whatever is your favourite search so please try to use them before posting this type of question especially when it is a question for homework .

as always with the internet read a few different sites and try to ensure that the information you get is correct

an example search for WEB SERVER DEADLOCK

Sometimes they have rules such as: if you need to acquire two locks, they must be acquired in the correct order. That way one process won't have one and want the other while another process has the other and wants one.

That's just an example. Keep researching. Google and Wikipedia are your friends.

Dear lonely, please keep to our Posting Guidelines. These include rules like Do Not Double Post Your Questions.

Also, as this is a general question about handling deadlocks instead of an OS specific one, I've moved it to the Misc section.

            Greetings,
