How to open Lotus123 file in XLS

I am using Micrsoft office XP. i want a loutus 123 file open and then saved the data into excel. how can i do this.

i know when we open excel and click on open a file there is a option
to open lotus file but it is not working and giving error "lotus file can not open"
so is there any other way
shoulid i have to make another file in excle and then made all the formulas and data again
OR
it lotus 123 can also be converted into xls.

i had searched a lot on google but find nothing appropiate
