Can anyone help please?
Following a factory reset of my HP Pavillion Laptop (vista) i realised that i had lost all 116 photos taken at a recent, never to be repeated, visit to EuroDisney. Both the kids & I are absolutely gutted! apart from giving £100 to Pc World, is there any reliable way for us to get these pictures back? any help will be very much appreciated. Thanks -
It depends on what they did. A "factory reset" can mean many things. Did they format your hard drive and reinstall your OS? Did they use some kind of recovery disk? Did they just reinstall your operating system on top of your corrupted operating system? Do you have more then one partition on your computer? Did they replace any components?Originally posted by RedlanceFollowing a factory reset of my HP Pavillion Laptop (vista) i realised that i had lost all 116 photos taken at a recent, never to be repeated, visit to EuroDisney. Chances are good that your pictures are lost forever, unless you want to spend hundreds of dollars on a forensic data recovery company. On the other hand there is a good chance that your "factory reset" was just a reinstall of the OS using a recovery CD.Comment

If PcWorld can get the pictures back and they are irreplaceable, then I would spend the money. Do they mean "no charge" if the pictures are not recoverable??
I assume, of course, that a copy does not exist still in a camera chip nor did you make a backup CD.Comment
