folder option problem

hi evryone,
i have reinstalled my OS windowsXP, now i am facing a problem. if i am cdouble clicking the harddisk drives its opening in different window, apart from this hardsdisk drives, all the folders opening in its own window itself. I have checked the option tools>folder options>general options> open in own window also, but its not chnaging is there any other settings i have to change or is it a problem of virus or some kind of. But i have formated my drive and installed the OS. anybody can help me, My email id is email removed.

First, please refrain from placing any contact information in your posts. It is against site policy and (as you can see) will be edited out.

So, you have gone to Tools-->Folder Options and selected the "Open each folder in the same window" selection. Have you closed all of the open windows and then tried opening them? It only takes effect for newly opened windows after you make the change.
