    Are certifications worth the time

Hey guys, I have a question that needs some opinions to finalize my decision. I'm 1 year away from getting my 4-year degree in Info. Security, but I have no certifications for anything. No A+, no CISSP, & etc. Question is, is it worth the extra time, money, & busy schedule to get certified at various levels of an IT background to prove you can to these things to future employers? Yes, I know experience in the IT field is worth it's weight in gold, it takes years to accomplish respectable credit with certain people.

Any related posts are welcome. Thank you in advance.

Certification proves to employers that you have both the devotion and the knowledge to work in the field. Often, partnerships with certain vendors/companies require that they employ a certain number of certified individuals. If they do not meet this requirement, often they will pay to send technicians to be certified.
