What’s the Best Way to Remove Backgrounds from Hair?

I love taking portraits, but removing the background from images with curly or messy hair has always been a nightmare. Most tools either chop off parts of the hair or leave weird outlines. Does AI actually do a good job with hair, or is manual editing still better?

I totally get you! I used to struggle with this too, but AI has gotten much better. I tried SnapEdit on some pictures with frizzy hair, and it kept most of the details intact! It’s not perfect every time, but it saves a lot of time compared to manual selection. You should test it out!

This is something I’ve never thought about, but now I realize how tricky it must be! Makes me appreciate good photo editing even more.

I think different approaches work better in different scenarios. It also depends on factors like the contrast between the foreground and background. Sometimes, controlled masking with adjusted opacity or softness can be effective. I’ve also seen artists use custom "fur" or "hair" brushes to paint strands for a more realistic finish.
