How to edit a freeware program w/o source code ?

    Hi community,

I had IT for several years, where I used pascal and visual basic. So I know how to program basic stuff.

But here's my problem ... I wanted to edit, in this case update a db of a freeware program. Those are *.bin files, how can I open/edit those ? I do not have the source code, nor an uncompiled version of the progran. I don't even know which prog was used to program it in the first place.

It's a win95+ prog which does not run in DOS.

I hope anyone got some helpful input for me
    thanks

    Hi there,

I doubt you can disassemble a complied binary file, i've heard of few free disassembler available out there in the net. Try using ano of it, hope it helps. Good luck & Take care.
