locked myself out of my database

I've locked myself out of my database. I was trying to connect to mysql and decided to create a new user with full privs, then remove privileges from root, as i know the db server shouldn't be running at root ( a tutor set it up for me). the server is still runnning as root and i cant fix it! :( I'm using phpmyadmin on a uniserver. Please can anyone help me get back in? i can open the phpmyadmin page but cant do anything as it says 'no privileges'
    thanks

i fixed this problem by saving the www and database table files files from the server to another location, then uninstalling and reinstalling the server, then putting the files back. Had to do all of the queries again tho.....

You got it working? I've had to use similar methods before when i got locked out. It's also a good way to move large databases. If you don't want to run a long dump. Just copy the database folder.
