What are the advantages and disadvantages of building a website fully in Flash? I know that Flash is rather useful in many web design related area because it is vivid and lively. It can seamlessly transit between pages. However, I personally found Flash difficult to work with. For example, functional test automation is difficult to implement for a Flash based website. Flash is not exactly SEO friendly. I'm no expert in Flash either; it would be great if any Flash web developers or web developer can give me some feedbacks about the pros and cons of building a fully flash based website for a small size company.

Don't build a website entirely in Flash, that is not what flash is for. Youw ill alienate a number of users - SEO Bots, Mobile users and accessibility issues are a nightmare.
The effects you mention can be achieved using something like jQuery that supports progressive enhancement so you only get the fully swish version if your browser can support it otherwise you get the basic version. this means the site is better crawled for SEO, more open to the mobile user and more accesible to the impaired user.
The use of a language like PHP backed with MySQL and supporting a XHTML and JS site will deliver much better results all round.

If you're aiming at obtaining organic results in your website, then flash is definitely a big NO. Unless... you apply cloaking to it, that is, display different content to crawlers and users. However, cloaking is not exactly a "legal" practice and might get your site penalised by Google if found out.Comment

Very simple, now SE don't like flash pages means don,t read the flash languages. If you want to build a website in Flash you can grow sales by SMO, PPC and other mor techniques.Comment
