    DB2 migration

    Hi,

I am an old-time mainframe programmer. MVS, JCL, JES, DB2.

I notice alot of my colleagues are migrating their mainframe
    applications to newer client/server.

However I am happy my company has comitted at least 10-15 years to
    legacy mainframe applications.

I am curious about other shops.

In the meantime I am learning some of the client/server technology.

However I am also commited to mainframe systems.

    Hi,

you could replace MVS with Linux, JCL with bash, JES don't know and DB2 can
    stay DB2.

    Regards,

None of the shops I've been in over the past several years are moving
their current mainframe applications off to other platforms. New
applications especially package apps, and data warehouses are the ones
typically being develeped on client/server platforms. What mainframe
shops are beginning to do is open us their mainframe apps as web
services to the other environments. I've seen this leveraged quite
effectively at the last company I worked at.
