When creating a DMS tablespace in a container on a logical disk that is in
fact mapped to a RAID 5 how much performance benefit does DB2 for LUW
get from a DMS tablespace? With such an architecture, contiguous placement
of disk blocks and prefetching has a different behavior than when a single
physical device is used.
I'm more interested in results from rigorous measurements than I am
intuitive feeling, subjective observations, off-the-cuff expectations, etc.,
as between my own and others I have enough of these to go around for now.
My own feeling is that the contiguous placement of DMS still helps, but
not as much as with a logical device that is mapped 1-1 to a physical disk.
Thoughts?
