    What will happen if address bus of width 2^40 and if the size of the ram is 2^30?

    hello,
    consider a computer(system ) possessing an address bus of width 2^40 and if the size of the ram is 2^30 what will happen?
    i assume that the system can access atmost 2^30 th address.is my assumption correct?

    You say at most as if you're not accessing all the ram. Either the wording is wrong or you meant to say that you have 2^30 bit processor and 2^40 byte ram.

    Either way, you have to schooling for hardware addressing. Also, it sounds as if you believe memory is addressed in bits but for the most part, it's addressed in bytes.
