    How to optimize a slow PC

    The computer is just one-year-old. Many problems:
    - Always run every program slowly;
    - Desktop always appears some strang files;
    I've used some antivirus product to clear virus. It says everthing is OK.
    Help!

    Try using something called Malwarebytes to check out your computer for trojans and other viruses.

    If that shows clear then you might want to invest in some kind of utilites software like TuneUp Utilities to repair any issues with your computer.

        Not all AntiVirus products pick up all viruses. I would still check.

              I realize this is from a couple of months ago, but maybe this will help someone.

              Just because your computer is slow, that doesn't mean you have a virus. What it usually means is that your hard drive is clogged with a bunch of stuff. Do you have a lot of pictures and movies on your computer? Do you download lots of software or install lots of applications that run all the time? Have you not defragmented your hard drive in a while?

              It's generally these areas that will reduce the speed your computer, NOT VIRUSES. I find it rediculous that so many people have been fooled into thinking that every time there is a computer "issue", that it's a virus. Most likely you don't have a virus ... it's possible that you do, but there's a better chance you don't. And when you keep getting on the internet downloading stuff to "clean up" your computer, your installing more garbage and contributing to the problem.

              On a similar note. You should back up your hard drive periodically in case you do get a virus or some other problem with your hard drive. When that happens, you can just replace your hard drive since you thought ahead to keep copies of it.
