Newbie needs advice on app development

I'm an IT consultant so I'm not a dummie, but I'm not exactly a programmer either.

We need to create an inventory/audit app for an Android tablet. I looked at the Eclipse documentation and I don't think I want to take the time to learn Java well for just this one app. Which leaves me with these options.

Has anybody used Mobiforms to create apps, and would a smart but untrained newbie be able to develop something reasonably quickly? They don't offer a trial version which I find more than annoying.

Should I just outsource the project to somebody in Bangladesh? I have some experience outsourcing.

Any other recommendations on getting an app created relatively quickly?

I agree, programming and IT-Consulting are two very different worlds.

Right up front: I'm not going to be able to give you specifics about application development for either IOS or Android - these are out of "my box" so to speak; however, if you will humor me:

1) IMHO: You need to learn the development code/environment of the programming language / environment, at least a passing knowledge, your app will be created under otherwise you risk having malware/malcode inserted without your knowledge

2) MobiForms: Personally I have no experience with the application so I did a search on it... very mixed opinions from several different forms that I frequent; thus, it would seem that your application could have a rough start.

You mention that you have experience with outsourcing so this may be old news to you; however, it bears stating for other's that read this thread: Vet the outsourced company very well - where is the data going to be stored and how sensitive is that information. So many stories online about company data breaches concerning personal information; however, what we don't hear as much about are the internal data breaches... those cost companies a lot of money and are rarely reported if no-one's personal information is compromised. Corporate espionage is a very big criminal business - so much so, that my company has locked down all of our PC's to authorized devices, removed all of the CD/DVD drives etc...

My G.Pa used to say to me:
Pick Two: You can do it Cheap, You can do it Well, You can do it quickly; but, you can't have all three
