What is html/xhtml expertise?

Hi All,

I am new to this Techie portal.Needed help to understand what is expected behind the requirement title of "Html/Xml Expertise".

Most of the software company asks for "Html/Xml expertise".

That is somwhat vague... as a Chemist when we post for a position using language along that line of thought then we're not hiring for an "entry" level position where we'll work with someone to develop practical appliaction of knowledge... instead, we're after someone that is able to do that own their own.
