What the average cost of a custom Drupal site?

I'm new to Drupal but i'm an expert PHP programmer. I just want to know how much the average Drupal site costs to the client so I can charge in more parellel.

I might spend twice as many hours on it so that's why I can't charge per hour, (actually I can't even estimate it)

but All the drupal site needs is update pictures, text, a contact form, a news blog on the backend. Nothing like e-commerce or billing or user login.

$500? $1500? $5000?

If you have experience and have built some Drupal sites, I'd love to hear how much they cost and any links to the sites if active.

I'd still break it by hours.

Lets say you estimate that it will take you 5 hours to setup a the CMS, add the plugins and make the design changes. But you think your pace is 2x what is average.

Then charge your hourly rate x 2.5hrs.

The trick is finding a good hourly rate. I would not compete on price. Rather work on providing quality work and service and delivering on time and chair at market or above market prices.

Just like anything else, customers always choose by price. yes I could charge 10% above market value, but that could mean I bring in $0 dollars to pay bills.

I don't know about you, but $0 doesn't work for me.

The quality of work is as best as I can do. In a subjective thing like web design, customer satisfaction is what becomes more important, and that's what I aim for.

It doesn't matter how long it takes me to do the work, i'll do it, I just need to quote a fair market price for good quality work.

1. Install Drupal
2. Design a custom theme
3. Add content and train 2 users on how to update the info.

again...any ball park quotes?

If it's your first job, $500 bucks for the initial installation and design. Make the training based on hours with a free 2 hours etc of training (this way you don't get tied into unlimited training/support hours).

Set a rate for future work. $25-50/hr. This way you don't get sucked into an unlimited amount of work for your base fee.

As demand for your time picks up you can up the price as.

I'm giving you pricing based on my experience of hiring and working as a consultant.
