    Well, there has been. If Wikipedia says otherwise, it's wrong - again.

    To prove this to your own satisfaction, search Microsoft's site for "Visual
    Studio 98" references. There are plenty.

    Apparently VS 98 must have been an unofficial name of VS 6.0 but I am
    not sure for this.

      Richard, you are right.

      Looking at my CD of Visual C++ 6, it clearly states "Visual Studio 98".

      Thus: Visual Studio 98 was the IDE that contained Visual c++ 6, Visual
      J++ 6, and so on.

      Thus, in fact, Visual Studio 6 never existed under that name (at least
      not on my CD), it was called Visual Studio 98. Of course, I have heard
      it more than once being called "Visual Studio 6".

      Enough OT...

      Regards,
      Spiro.

        Well it is installed under the menu folder "Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0"
        and its MSDN library under the menu folder "MSDN Library Visual Studio
        6.0a". And all the stuff and subfolders are named "6.0".
