Basic Drawing

I am new to C++, but not to programming. I was wondering how I could set up a canvas and draw some basic stuff like circles and rectangles on it. If anyone could give me instructions or point me to right the place, that'd be great.

I personally haven't had much experience doing that, but some other members here might have, if you can post the graphics library you are using...
