Clarification abt client sever

Hi,
i have little confusion abt which one to the client and which should be the sever.
In my application PC is connected some DTE(non pc terminals) which wil supply data. ANd that has to stored in the PC.Now according to network terminology server servers the data .in this scenario which is the server .DTE is nothing which give u data only nothing else.all synchronisation of all the DTE connected to the PC is done by the PC only.

Generally, speaking the server is the provider of data and the client is the user of the data. Either end of a connection can be server or a client. If a server needs data (like a userid and password) then, for that period, the server becomes the client and the client becomes the server to provide the data.
