I agree with nickyeng - C++ How to Program by Deitel and Deitel is an excellent book. However, it is not easy - it tends to assume one is a reasonably good programmer (or going to be) - but it is rigerous and covers topics which the 'teach yourself' books either skim over or don't touch at all.

My friend who works with programming, told me that those "teach yourself" books are crap. And i just dont understand.

I recommend Larry Ullman's book. It's just called c++ programming, but it's from Peachpit Press. It's a very good beginner's book that doesn't assume you know stuff.

The only disclaimer is that is doesn't go into more advanced topics.
