create and save bitmap in c++

Hi!

My problem is that I have a lot of number and I want to make a bitmap from it and after I have my bitmap a want to be able to save it. I`m working under linux.
Can anybody tell me how to do it , or where should I search for the answer?

First, Google "bitmap specification" and find links like http://netghost.narod.ru/gff/vendspec/micbmp/bmp.txt and http://www.fortunecity.com/skyscrape.../bmpffrmt.html. They explain how bitmaps are stored as text. Next, figure out how you are going to make your numbers into bitmaps, then bitmaps into text. Write out a file with all the data, and you are done.

There are only a few steps, but the steps are kind of doozies.
