    Router Event Log

    Hi Guys,

I'd just like to know whether or not my router stores it's log file on my PC or is it only kept in the router's memory?

The log file only stores for 2 days and I'd like to write an application to take the log file from the router and write it to a file, then store the file in a database.
The storing of the file to the database isn't an issue...it's getting the event log from my router into my app. Is this possible?

    Thanks

99.99% chance is that the logs are stored in the router's memory. Routers are only connected to a computer through ethernet and don't actually have read/write access to the computer it's connected to (unless the router came with some special software, in which case it's anyone's guess.) Anyway, more than likely they're stored on the router itself. Finding out how / where, though, might be tough.

      Thanks HaLo2FrEeEk.

I thought as much. It's not critical and I'm not really gonna worry about it as it's a personal thing I wanted to solve on the side :P

      Thanks again
