    Web.Config customErrors

    I am attempting to setup customer error pages, specifically for 404, to be a catchall for mistyped web addresses. I have added the following to the web.config file, but I still see the generic 404 error page.

    Code:
    <configuration>
        <system.web>
    	<customErrors defaultRedirect="missing.html" mode="On" >
    		<error statusCode="404" redirect="missing.html"/>
          </customErrors>
        </system.web>
    ....

    I have also tried setting a custom 404 error page within IIS, but I continue to be directed to the generic 404 page.

    Win Server 2003 SP 2

      To be quite honest I've found the 404 redirects to be rather ...hmm... undependable.

      They sometimes work but only if your within the domain of your web application.

      I couldn't get this to work consistently... so I'm curious about any solution you find.

        i better suggest go 4 Xp or vista....cos server2003 sucks...

        to resolve your error...<custom Errors mode="RemoteOnl y" defaultRedirect ="mycustompage. htm"/>

          Unfortunately, I am stuck with server 2003 at this point. Also, the web.config change you suggested does not work. I realize how this is supposed to be configure, my point is that it does not work correctly.
