    data access permissions

    Hi,
I am using winXP pro + IIS5.1 to develop my site offline.

My data is in a folder outside the web, and I am told "my IUSR account needs
to have read/write/modify NTFS permissions to the directory housing the
    file"

I can find no info on how actually to do this. Can anyone explain?

    Thanks in advance,

    Hugh

If your machine is in a workgroup, see this first:
Microsoft Support is here to help you with Microsoft products. Find how-to articles, videos, and training for Microsoft Copilot, Microsoft 365, Windows, Surface, and more.

In Windows Explorer, right click the directory, click properties, and see
    the permissions tab.

      Re: data access permissions

      Hi Ray,

Thanks for the answer. I've done what you suggest, but see no "permission s"
      tab.

I get "general" "sharing" "websharing " and "custom" tabs.

The "general" tab shows th file attibutes as read only (green filled box). I
un-check this and hit OK. When I relaod the properties box, the box is
      checked green again.

      ??????

      Hugh

        Try this (in Windows Explorer):

        Tools--Folder Options--View tab--Use simple file sharing: OFF

Then pull up the properties dialog on the directory again and see if there's
        a security tab.

Had I noticed your date and time on your original post, I never would have
answered that. You're on your own if it doesn't work.
