    Total newbie to asp

I am looking to create a site from asp, I have never done any at all. I expected to be able to call the pages from my C: drive to test them in IE. This doesn't seem to be the cause is there any way of getting it to launch as a site through visual studio?

    Cheers Truez

Set up a webserver on your machine, IIS is easy to use:

    Google Configure IIS

      hi,
In order to create an asp website the first thing u should have is have IIS installed in ur m/c to check that whether iis is installed in ur m/c just check u have the folder inetpub in any o ur drives in ur computer if it is present then no problem then u can start creating the webites. The next thing u have to do is u have to have u r file in InetPub->WWWroot folder only if u have u r file in any other location other thab wwwroot u cannot run asp files. and when u want to run u r asp file u have to ype the following in the explorer address bar
      http://localhost/urfilename.asp
      other wise can give http://urmachinename/urfilename.asp

        What about Virtual Directories?

Why not let the OP follow a proper tutorial. He will learn what he can and can not do there.

I agree. w3schools has a "how to configure" section in their asp tutorial - please note that IIS is the way to go, they just include instructions for "PWS" for thoroughness. I don't think PWS is still available (although it is what I used when I first started), just skip that section.
