entering grave accents in a textfield

i am currently working on a project which should enable a user to enter a gaelic word. i am using actionscript/flash develop. i have created a textfield in flash 8 and its property is set as Input text.

you are able to paste a grave accent into the textfield e.g "à" and it searches through your xml data and it finds the words with this accent. burt the user cannot manually enter the accent. there is a way i have tried CLTR+ ' + a and this works in Word.

does anyone please know how this works maually in flashdevelop.

I'll first re-iterate what CroCrew has already said: This is the ASP Forum, not the flash forum. Please be mindful of where you post your questions.

In response to your question though, and again - this being the asp forum - i'm no expert in flash, probably couldn't even draw a stick man, but could you not implement some sort of an ascii character picker that the user could click on, select the character, and it would throw it into the textbox for them?

Just a thought, no idea how you'd do it in flash though :) I'll move this thread to the flash forum in a few hours if you don't get any intelligible responses.
